THE BASECAMP WORKOUT

Workout 30x

The Basecamp Workout is a whirlwind of 30 1-minute exercises. It starts with one fast-paced minute on the Airdyne Bike. Then one minute off, doing an intense weight or bodyweight exercise. Then it's back on the Airdyne for another minute. Then another minute off. Repeat this cycle for 30 rounds. Top that off with some abs and core exercises at the end and you've got yourself an exhilarating, calorie calorie burning, body-toning, muscle building Basecamp Workout.

THE AIRDYNE BIKE

At the core of the Basecamp Workout is the Airdyne® Bike: The harder you work, the more it fights back. The Airdyne says adios to the flywheel of a spin bike and replaces it with a fan. The harder you pedal, the faster the fan rotates creating more air resistance. Two moving handles will give your arms a run for their money too. The Airdyne increases cardio, burns fat and builds strength.

CARDIO CHAOS

Between sprints on the Airdyne Bike, a Basecamp Workout will have you sweating, straining and pushing your limits with various light weight and bodyweight exercises that will work your abs, legs, upper body and full body.

FOR FIRST TIME BASECAMPERS

WHAT TO WEAR

For your workout, wear what you would normally wear on a jog. We recommend Dethrone Basecamp Performance Gear. Comfortable, well-fitting cross-training shoes are also recommended, such as Merrell sneakers offered in our studio

WHAT TO BRING

Bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated (bottled water is available for purchase at the front desk). If you plan to shower, bring a change of clothing and any toilettries you need (body wash and shampoo provided). Clean towels are available at the front desk.

WHEN TO ARRIVE

Arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. This will give you time to meet your instructor, pick an Airdyne bike and orient yourself with the layout of the gym. Arrive a little earlier if you have a pre-workout stretching routine.

CHECK IN WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR

For first time Basecampers, the instructor will give you a brief orientation to get you up to speed. Be sure to disclose any injuries or health concerns you might have. Throughout that first workout, the instructor will check in to make sure you're on track.

OUR STORY

In 2012, Dethrone Royalty clothing brand employees started experimenting in a warehouse with a 35 minute cardio workout based on the non-contact training done by their sponsored professional fighters. Amazed with the results, they invited some of their friends to join in the fun. To their surprise, not only did their friends insist on returning time after time, but they also started inviting new people to join them. From this, the first Dethrone Basecamp Cardio Studio officially opened its doors to the public in Burlingame, California in February 2013.

A WORKOUT FOR THE "AVERAGE JOE"

So who is the guy behind this all? Nick Swinmurn is the owner of Dethrone Basecamp. A self-proclaimed "average Joe", Nick saw himself transform through his daily battles with the Airdyne bike. Nick took a workout that was designed for UFC athletes and adapted it for the "average Joe". Feeling the pressure of updating the white board for the group before each workout at the warehouse, he developed an app that ensured that each workout would be unique and move at a quick pace. While Nick no longer leads any classes, he remains a daily participant, ensuring that the student perspective is always the strongest voice.
